One of the three missions of Intensive Trauma Therapy, Inc., is to provide specialized training in the treatment of trauma to mental health clinicians and/or students who will become clinicians. Our senior clinicians carefully supervise their involvement on our treatment team.
Clinicians who have completed our classroom training and are working to complete their second level of training (practicum experience) are referred to as Level 2 therapists by our staff. In most cases these therapists already hold a Master’s or doctoral degree in a mental health field and are licensed clinicians or working toward licensure. They learn our specialized treatment model first-hand in our clinic. Level 2 therapists observe every session of a patient’s treatment and conduct certain sessions under direct supervision by a senior clinician.
In addition, ITT accepts graduate students from nearby universities who are fulfilling internship or field placement requirements for Master’s or doctoral degrees in social work, counseling, art therapy, marriage and family therapy, or psychology. After a period of observing our staff they become auxiliary members of our treatment team. Each trainee is closely supervised by one of the senior clinicians.
